This interesting bracelet is crafted from Freshwater Pearls in various shades of brown. The clustered section is composed of Keshi Pearls, each Keshi Pearl sits upon hand twisted ball pin that are attached to a stringing material. The bracelet measures 20.50cm in total length. Please note size indicates stringing circumference, not inner circumference which is dictated by the size of the stones (hence fits 16-18cm wrist).
FRESHWATER PEARLS- is an organic gem grown within oysters. Pearls are formed naturally by an oyster when a foreign object enters the shell and causes irritation to its soft tissue. The oyster forms a secretion around the object as a form of protection. The foreign object can be a number of different things including a grain of sand or a parasite. In time the coating builds up in iridescent layers. Cultured pearls are produced by artificially introducing a foreign object into the fleshy part of oysters, which become coated with nacre in a similar manner to natural pearl. KESHI PEARLS- are small non-nucleated pearls typically formed as by-products of pearl cultivation. They have no nucleus, keshi pearls are composed entirely of nacre. The nucleus acts as a “shape guider” for the pearl sac, and with nothing to guide its “action” the oyster does best as it can-usually baroque shaped pearl.
